" This is soooo not right!" DG whined as she tried with all her might to get her hand out the cuffs.
" Hey , this isn't paradise for me either ,Princess, but at least it'll keep you out of trouble."
" Oh really?" DG tried to run but Cain barely budged." Damn it!"
" I'm taller, stronger , and possibly more stubborn than you." Cain smirked.
" Okay." DG exhaled sharply. " I won't go in the house.' She stared at her wrist. The cuffs remained on. " Oh come on! I just said I wouldn't go in."
Billina chuckled. " I don't think this place believes you."
Cain laughed. " Looks like we're stuck together for the time being."
DG noted. " Your taking this rather well."
" Well I was thinking about buying a leash for you since you like running off. I guess this will have to do."
" I think I prefered the brooding Tin Man over the funny one."
" Tough, this Tin Man is very glad to have you back."
DG blushed. " I'm very glad to be back."
" Get a room." Billina said.
Cain and DG both blushed. " Billina ,he's my friend. He's been through a lot. You shouldn't say such things. You dishonor his .....wife."
" Wife?!" Billina started biting at Cain. " Your making sweet talk with DG when you have a wife!"
" Oww! Stop that! My wife passed on over an annual ago and I'm not sweet talking the princess!" Cain tried to kick Billina away.
" Ohhh, well that's different. Go back to the flirting then." Billina stopped biting.
" We weren't flirting. We're friends." DG tried to hold back the laughter.
Billina glared at Cain. "Friends. Right." She headed down the road. " Goo goo eyes and sweet talk. Mhmm, friends."
The three walked down the road which was uneven and rocky. Cain shook his head. " Before it was called the Old Road it was known as the Yellow Brick Road. All I see is broken yellow bricks. " Cain said disheartened.
" Kind of kills the legend." DG symphatized.
" All the stories I was told as a boy. The glory of the old era. Yeah this is very disheartning."
" Cain, maybe something happened to cause this and that's why we're here." DG said.
" Maybe."
Meanwhile....
They rock reappeared and looked wickedly happy. " They are headed to Emerald City."
The loud, domineering voice chuckled. " Haha! They have reached the end . They'll never get past Mombi or her minions."
The three exited the forest and looked on shocked and saddened. They were viewing the entry to Emerald City. " What happened here ? Something bad happened here I can feel it. " DG said.
" I'm beginning to believe you. We were sent here for a reason. This looks nothing like the paintings. All the Emeralds are gone. That didn't happen until just before I was born. Something really is way off." Cain added.
They slowly walked into the city. Windows were shattered. It was like a ghost town. Then they saw statues every where. DG and Cain walked up to one. " Cain I think these statues are the city folk."
Cain sighed. " Me too."
Billina walked ahead of them. She saw six female statues that appeared to have been dancing - headless. " Well that's plain carelessness." Billina walked on . All of a sudden Cain and DG heard Billina scream. They raced to her. " Watch out!" Billina warned.
DG looked at what Billina was afraid of. There in front of them was a statue of a man made of tin holding an axe. The cuffed pair walked up to it. " A tin man. " DG smiled. She then noticed something shiny near the the statue's feet. She leaned over and picked it up. A key with the initals O.Z. She placed it in her pocket. " This is so weird."
Billina clucked . " There's a lion statue nearby as well." They walked over to the next statue. There was wordings on the wall nearby : Beware of the Wheelers.
" What's a Wheeler ?" DG asked.
" Me!" said a male voice manically.
