It had become a weekly habit with the four friends who saved the O.Z. Their lives kept them busy but DG made sure that every Saturday they would meet in the afternoon and catch up with each others lives. They usually met at Finaqua and had picnics. DG and Glitch would swim while Cain and Raw watched.

It had been seven months since they all had met. DG was determined for them to stay friends. She was a loner during her time on the Other Side. She had longed for friends and now she had them. The men sensed this and were more than willing to set aside a day to spend with the princess they cared so much for. Cain was trying not to laugh as DG was imitating to Glitch the suitors that she had to endure as a single princess.

Jeb arrived with his wife,Catlien and their newborn daughter ,Adora who was nicknamed Addie. Jeb had known Cat since childhood. They married shortly after the eclipse. Cain was the best man.Glitch , who was rebrained but still ,well a little glitchy , was talking to Raw about algerbra of all things. DG rolled her eyes as did Cain. Cain perked up at the sight of his grandaughter. Addie had Jeb's hazel eyes and Cat's red hair. DG smiled as Cain's stoic manner dissolved as he ohhed and awwed with Addie.

Cain caught DG looking at him and smiled. He had offered to be her bodyguard but for some reason she kept turning him down. She did let him control who should hold security positions though.Every time she had turned down his offer he asked why. She would say he needed to bond with Jeb but he had this feeling that there was more to it. He noticed as soon as he smiled her eyes darted away and she blushed. He walked over to her. " Hey there ,Princess. Addie is curious about something."

" Really? " DG's eyebrow raised.

Addie grabbed at DG's hair and gurgled. Cain couldn't help but smile. " Did I do something? Are you mad at me? What's going on in that head of yours ,Princess?"

" I'm just stressed , Mr. Cain." She noticed he tensed up with concern. " Nothing bad . Just usual angsty 20-something stuff."

He relaxed. " I don't miss my twenties. Of course I was married with a son before 21. I can't really relate to being single at 24 but it was stressful living up to expectations. Must be extra stressful for a princess."

" Especially when your alone. " She mumbled.

" But your not alone."

"Not what I meant." DG looked at him with a mischevious expression.

Cain groaned. " Your up to no good."

DG gave a smile that pretty much confirmed that. " You know what I like most about you ?"

" I dread answering this but what?"

" Your hat! " She snatched the fedora off his head and started running.

Cain looked at Addie. " She's so dead. "

" Ummm ,I guess you have a princess to chase?" Jeb said as he came over and grabbed his daughter. He was trying not to laugh. He was failing.

" Oh yeah. I'm giving her a head start though. Make her think she's won." Cain grinned.

" She's very ticklish. I remember as a child that was a good thing to know." Glitch added.

" Good to know." Cain replied.

Raw shot straight up. " DG hurt." Raw started running into the forest. Cain was right behind him.Cain's heart paced at the thought of her seriously hurt. Why did he give her a head start. She's so trouble prone,he thought. Raw stopped him. He was about to question him until he saw why they stopped. He gasped. The ground had caved in.

" Raw get me a rope and more help. She's down there isn't she?"

" Yes. " Tears filled Raws eyes . " Hurt bad. Can't fix our princess."

" Then get me help!" Cain growled.Raw went for help and Cain slowly worked his way to the edge. " Princess?" He hear whimpering.

" Cain?" DG whimpered weakly.

Cain sighed. She was awake. Alive. " We're getting help."

" Head hurts.Blood. Dark. Hard to stay awake."

"Stay awake ,Kiddo. Fight the sleep."

Raw came back with the others. Azkadellia was with them. " No need for rope when you have a magical princess." Az said as she put her hands on the ground. Instantly the ground that had collaped rebuilt. DG lay on top. She was cut and bruised. Most of the damage on her face. Cain rushed to her side and gentle cradled.

" Cain?" DG asked worried.

" I'm here."

" Where? It's the middle of the night I think . I can't see you."

" It's mid-afternoon the suns are still in the sky." Cain became filled with dread." How many fingers am I holding?"

" I don't see any. It's still the afternoon? Cain? No,please tell me...please." DG frantically begged as realization took hold.

Cain looked at Raw for help. Raw looked utterly defeated. " Some wounds even I can't heal. I wish I could. Darkness is her world now."

Ahamo and some of the staff raced over with a cot. Cain looked at Ahamo and whispered 'blind'. Both mens eyes filled with tears. DG was transported on to the cot. She begged for Cain and Azkadellia to stay by her side. Cain took one hand and Az took the other as they all solemly walked back to the castle.
