Summary:  DG has several secrets and Cain is determined to help her as he notices her starting to break even though a new enemy is terrorizing the O.Z. whose sadistic attacks that make Zero look like tame.The more he finds out ,the more he tries to protect her but will his protection lead to her destruction?
Warning: post series , tad angsty,no deaths yet

DG pants as she speeds down halls of Finaqua. She's so in her own little world she doesn't see she is about to run into Wyatt Cain. Her grabs hold of her arms quickly when he realizes she's not watching where she is going. She nearly knocks him down by her forceful speed. " Omph! Hey there,Princess. Where are you ,it isn't in Finaqua?"

She looks at him dazed." Mr. Cain?"

He gently smiles. Now she notices him, after colliding into him. He frowns at her appearance. He was hoping Ambrose was overeacting but he wasn't. She looks haggard. Dark circles under her eyes give away she hasn't been sleeping. He does notice something else. While she looks like she has lost weight , her arms appear...toned. Well at least she's working out .That's gotta be a good sign,Cain says to himself.

He notices she seems to not want to be there. Does she not wanna see him? He feels hurt and wonders why. He's in his forties,she her twenties besides awkward family reunions what could they possibly have in common ,he wonders. " Princess, are you okay?"

" I'm fine!" DG chirps.


He sighs.Anyone that says 'fine' with that perky of a tone is not fine. " I think Gl- Ambrose was right.I think we need to talk."

" I would love too, Cain but I'm extremely busy.Princess stuff."

Cain's worry becomes anger. She's lying to him. " Really? Princess stuff? That's interesting because both of your parents said you have the afternoon and evening off. That you have had them off for some time now. They also were curious why I asked this since you apparently visit me at my cabin. "

DG gulped. " Well,I..."

Cain continued. " I find this interesting mostly because you have canceled visits with not only me but Glitch,Raw, and my son with the excuse of 'Princess Stuff'. Now we are going somewhere quiet and you and I are gonna have a little talk about why your lying and where you actually go."

" But I cant I -"

He grabbed her hand and forced her to walk with him. " You can and you will." He said as he forced their way to the gazebo.


She silently cursed to herself as they reached the gazebo. " Sit and don't even think about running, turning into a bird,or disappearing. I will find you."

" Turning into a bird? Seriously?"

" With you and magic I take no chances."

DG huffed and thoughtr 'If I knew how to do that I so would but he's right.He'd find me.'

" So where have you been running off to ? " He noticed her expression and body language. She wanted to talk but something was holding her back. This pained him ,pained him in ways he never thought possible. " Princess..DG, why won't you tell me? Do you not trust me? Is it that bad?" She looked like she was about to breakdown in tears. He was truly concerned now. He had thought maybe she spent a couple hours playing hooky but this was beginning to appear as not the case.

" I can't tell you.Please don't push this."

Cain sat beside her. He was only planning to hold her hands but he shocked himself by pulling her into his chest and holding her protectively. " Is it.... a man?" He found himself fuming at the thought of DG having a secret lover.Not that he was jealous of course,he assured himself. If the man wanted secret trysts with the wonderful girl how awful.She was worth more that, Cain thought. 

" You deserve better than secret...meetings with a ...lover." He tried to keep his temper in check.

He felt his chest move as she began to laugh. " No secret meetings.No lover." 

Cain found himself sighing in relief. " Well good. You deserve to be courted ...well by a gentleman and you settle for no less got that,Kid." She nodded and rolled her eyes at his protectiveness. " Now DG if it aint a lo- a man what is it?"

" I told it I'm not telling."

" And I'm tellin' you you are! At least to me. Something's up. You look stressed and tired. Something is going on and I wanna know what!"

She pulled away from him. " I'm not talking."

" Well I'm not leaving until you do!"

" Your going to be here a long time Tin Man! Do you want chicken or turkey for dinner?"

Cain was about to angrily reply when they both heard a chuckle. They looked over to see Jeb Cain. He bowed to DG. " I'm afraid I'm going to need to take him from you ."

" Be my guest!" DG said in relief.

Cain glared at her then looked at his son. " I know you wouldn't have interrupted unless it was important. Is something that only I can really handle?"

" He's attacked again. He blew up a bank this time. He's been spotted driving a stolen car in Sin City Distract." Jeb answered.

" Injured?Casualties?" both Cain and DG asked. Cain wondered why DG asked but figured it was her compassionate nature.No doubt the families would be seeing a certain princess with smiles and platinum.He smiled at the thought.

" Thirty injured.Three dead." Jeb said solemly.

Cain sighed. "I'm on my way." He looked at DG." This talk isn't finished."

DG rolled her eyes then gave a concerned look. " Good luck,my friend."

Cain tipped his hat and headed off with his son.

As soon as the Cains were out of sight she dashed for the woods. Azkadellia saw her sister run into the forest and a blue light appeared. Az shook her head as she headed back into the palace to tell the servants that her sister wasn't feeling well again and not to disturb at all costs. Az whispered,knowing DG couldn't hear."Be careful,Little One."
